Sorry, below the actual link and ticket info, I did not care about reading the rest of your post.

Your title implies that it was you who got the ticket. Perhaps you should write better.

I don't see how my title implies anything. It says if you run a red light you get to watch it on video. If I had said "I get to watch my dumb ass", then I could see your point.

Anyways,, who cares.

Apparently, you care, since you bothered to comment on it 😛

Well he/she did slow down! I read somewhere that said 80% of the red light camera tickets are for not complete stop on right turn.

That's what I got mine for last month. I rolled on through. I certainly deserve the ticket but the video part is a bit scary.

I got a photo enforcement notice of my red light violation a week or so ago.

Went to the given website (different than above) and logged in with my city code, license #, and citation #.
They had 3 snapshots of the event. One with a zoom-in view of my rear plate.
Plus a 15 second video. There was a note that the video shown was limited to website constraints, so I guess it was a low res edition of the video recorded.

I was maybe 20 feet from the intersection when the light turned red, and I was through within a second.
Paid $75.

Ok, I fixed it. I care.

Thank you for taking your time to type out exactly what we saw in the OP's link.

Thats pretty weak. If I got a ticket for a right turn on red that I slowed down for but didn't completely stop i'd be pretty pissed. Especially if the light had just turned red and there was noone else around. The law is the law though I guess.

That's what I hate about all these auto-ticketing things like speeding, stop lights, etc... There is no discretion at all. You just get a bill in the mail regardless of the circumstances.

edit: apparently there is a no turn on red sign. I still don't really see it though, unless that white sign on the other side of the road is it.

The only reason that person slowed down was to actually be able to make such a sharp turn. The person was not slowing down due to the red light or a means of yielding.

But... but... there was a screaming ambulance behind me and at last minute it took a left turn. I had to get out of the way fast pronto.

so do police cars that run them for non-emergency get tickets as well?

Where is the picture of the driver of the vehicle? as far as they are concern someone stole my car that day then returned it.

How much can one expect their insurance to rise due to a red light ticket? Asking for someone else who got one of these.

So is this taken by one of those tiny round cameras mounted on top of the street lights, or is this an actual "Red Light Camera" that's in the big box on the side of the road with a flash and everything?

I've gotten one in the past and it's a no points ticket, so your insurance never finds out about it.

Depends on where you live. I believe in California you get points.

And your insurance company could find out about it even if you don't get points.

Hey shocksyde, I live in Frederick about 6 blocks up from that street, lol didn't even know they had the cameras there(duh!) that is pretty cool

The thing we don't know is what the visibility was like at the intersection. When I lived in Indiana, there were places where you could see a mile down the road you were approaching, so what the driver did would have been completely safe. Here in NJ, you're less likely to have that kind of visibility. Of course having visibility doesn't make what that driver did legal, but it certainly isn't the intent of the law to punish drivers who make completely safe turns.

I live right near there, trust me the light is pretty visible

So there really is a no turn on red sign there? I can't make it out in the video or pictures...

Edit: Not saying what this driver did would be right w/o one, just wondering... I'm also not saying I agree with the concept of a traffic camera automatically giving out tickets...

I'll have to look tonight, I'm pretty sure there is a "no turn on red" sign

A red light is a stop sign. If they meant for you to "go if it's safe", they would put a yield sign up.

Well, at least you signaled.

Comprehend much? See OP.

For what?

I comprehend just fine. I watched the video, you did signal, and I saidi at least you did that. What is your issue here?

You still didn't read the OP. You say "you" as if I was the driver.

Sorry, below the actual link and ticket info, I did not care about reading the rest of your post.

Are you blind or stupid?

No, I meant visibility of the cars on the cross road. Obviously no one was coming. If the driver could clearly see far down the road that no one was coming, they weren't driving dangerously.
