Getting a puppy soon and need some help...

Can anybody point out some good websites for training, care, etc. My brother-in-law is a vet but lives a few hours away. I used Google to find a few good sites but I would appreciate some additional suggestions.

Your new puppy is going to cry a lot when left alone when you get it. Remember, it will be the pup's first time away from mom and home, and it will be scared. Do your best to reassure it, and give it a tee shirt (or other article of clothing) that has your smell on it to sleep with. Sometimes a watch or clock that ticks helps soothe too.

As far as training goes, call your brother-in-law for advice and you can start by taking the pup outside to do its business often. Expect acidents, this is a learning phase.

Make sure you provide it with toys etc so that it won't get bored and get destructive. Also give it something to chew on so it won't chew on your brand new leather shoes.

Close, but not quite. 😛 I've never had shoes chewed up, but when I was a kid, my brother's dog used to chew up my toys.
