Getting a progressive picture on a non HDTV

With a 5 year old 53" Sony RP non hdtv set, are their a way to turn it into progressive(non-interlaced)? I am think a line doubler but not sure if it works on older tv sets.

"Are their a way," huh? Maybe there is a way, if your TV has RGBHV inputs. Check to see the what connections are possible.

I posted something similar to this in Video, and the response was that you're SOL if you don't have a TV that explicitly states that it supports a progressive signal. Even if your TV has component inputs, it might not support 480p signals due to the effectively doubled signal frequency.
