How long does it typically take to get a passport? I might need to leave as soon as 04-16-03 to Japan. Is there a quick way to obtain a passport?
 
I got my passport app done on Jan 4th in 2 weeks or less i had it its supposed to take 4 -5 weeks. This was regular processing which costs about 90 bucks or so.. the faster 3 day processing is 150 bucks.

Make sure you get a good photo taken.. i look totally stoned. Kinko's noramlly take the photo.. but you know what their photos come out weird.. try a photo place it might come out better.. I wish I had gone else where than kinko's... for the photo...

Just make sure they are instant print type (tell them its for a passport and they will give you teh right type).

 
i did mine rush and i think i got it within a week. i was shocked. especially since i didn't need it for another three weeks.

damn i don't remember what i did but i printed out the form, got a pic taken, then went to the post office. bring a copy of your birth certificate. i turned in the forms there and paid the fee, plus the rush fee. then boom my passport showed up about a week later.
 
You have plenty of time but I would still do expedited service (an extra $40-$60 I think).

I got my passport expedited on a Monday and received it the next Friday, well worth the extra $ I spent. Plus they sent it priority mail I think or maybe overnight express.
 
My sister actually went to the office in NYC to get it and got it that day. She needed it badly to get to England to see her fiance to post bands there so they could get through some legal paperwork. It's way to complex to explain why she needed to do that but she did get the passport that day.
 
I got mine in two weeks- just do it now before it's too late!! The golden rule is to file for one AT LEAST a month ahead of time. I got mine 2 weeks before I went to Europe- barely made it (considering I was told to do it 6 months earlier 😀).
