Getting a new videocard, tips for an install?

Well, I'm getting my new videocard Monday, and I just want to know, is there any thing I should do before/after I put in the card? I've messed with the insides before, I know where to put it in/where to take it out, whats this, and whats that.

But, this is my first time installing a new videocard. and I just want to know if theres anything I should do or not do when I'm installing my new videocard, such as getting the drivers for the GF2MX, before I install my card, or what. Anything I should mess with BIOs.

I'm taking out my TNT1, and replacing it with a GF2MX. I have W2K as my OS. I think thats the only thing you really need to know, but if you want more info, just ask 😛

You should start by disabling the drivers for your present video card and enabling the standard VGA drivers. Then shut down the computer, install the new card and load its drivers. If you wanna be really safe, uninstall the old video drivers.

Yes, if you want to be safe, completely remove the old drivers.

However, if you are using a version of the detonator drivers provided by Nvidia, you really don't have to remove the drivers. The detonator drivers are designed to work with just about any Nvidia board from the TNT1 on up(not sure about previous chipsets). So, in theory, you should be able to take out your current card and pop in your new card without changing anything (assuming you are using the detonator drivers).
