Which will give me the best in terms of gaming experience?I have a list of some of the things I'm looking at from both.

Current monitor:17" ViewSonic A70 CRT(8yrs old)

17" LCD Monitors i'm looking at:
HP L1702 Silver-Black 17" LCD Monitor-$235.99( before mail-in rebate of $50)
ViewSonic VA702b Black 17" 12ms LCD Monitor-$224.95

Current video card:Leadtek 6600GT PCI-E 128MB

I'm really only looking at the 7800GT and also when the 7800GS comes out.

I'm having a hard decision...cuz my monitor is showing signs of aging and it bugs me during gameplay but I also want better framerates.

Man, you need a new monitor.

You also need a new video card, but you gotta take care of your eyes d00d :)

It's a very close cousin to the 940b which is a great monitor.

The same thing that happens if you get dead pixels on any other LCD you buy from newegg. I have one dead pixel and I hardly ever notice it. This is a matrix of 1280x1024 of them so it's hard to see one.

The 740b will be a great companion to a 6600GT.

I have a 6800 which performs VERY close to the 6600GT in about 100% of situations, and use a Samsung 710T (12ms.) monitor. I love it for gaming. The 740b is simply a faster version of the 710T. Let us know how you like it (I haven't seen a whole lot of info on it). That said I have little doubt in my mind you'll be very happy with the 740B. Beware the 740N which lacks DVI. Get the 740B. There is the better 770P coming soon but it will cost $400-450 and I assumed you were on a $300 or so budget.

Thx...yeah my budget is 300 dollars(that was for either the new monitor or video card)

Edit:BTW would it be safe to get a 6600GT from Ebay...i'm thinking of getting one and running in SLI...

As for eBay-reliability will vary per seller. I say go for it though. Find a reputable seller with good ratings. But that's in place of the new LCD? The new LCD will be better in the end IMO to replace that ice-age 8 year old CRT.

AH.......a genuine person that saw benefit in buying one card and then another one later. you could be a winner of the century compared to the people that bought 2 GTX512 when they could have gone to Hawaii for that money.
good choice.

19"@1280x1024 only has a bigger dot pitch which will make pictures grainier. In addition, that monitor lacks DVI. I don't see any compelling reason why you'd want it instead unless you have eye problems? I admit 17"@1280x1024 is hard to see sometimes but I am nearsighted (and it's usually not that bad).

Well, I have trouble seeing 1280 on a 19" CRT, and I'm 15... so yeah. Secondly, I've seen it in action before, so I know it works.

overclock your monitor. Honest. Changing your voltage can increase resolution......
If only....

I don't know. People said the 710T didn't come with a DVI cable but mine did. Newegg doesn't have pictures of the 740B's box contents though so it's impossible to tell.

If you want 19" then yeah, the FP91G+ looks decent.

Am I seeing things? BenQ reports accurate specs. *gasp*

Viewing Angle 140°(H) / 135°(V)
Pixel Pitch 0.294mm
Display Colours 16.2 million with dithering

Show them with your wallet, and buy it. You like these accurate specs and you know it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014090
