Wanna bet? Not only do acrylic tanks leak about as often as glass tanks do, they're far more difficult to reseal when they DO leak.
Glass is easy to fix...scrape off the old silicone, put new aquarium-safe silicone in place, cure for 24 hours, and you're good to go.

Are we talking about cast acrylic here? I don't see how that could leak. If you got an acrylic tank with joints though, I could see it.

Do they make cast acrylic tanks that big? I'm pretty sure they don't.

Tenecor is another company who makes them. Not exactly cheap, but i'd rather the peace of mind knowing that it wont destroy my house.

That's NOT one single piece of acrylic...it has seams for the back and bottom.
Cast merely refers to the type of acrylic...not the manufacturing process for the tank.

IIRC, glass cages had a sketchy reputation...but I don't know if they ever got "better" or not. Tenecor used to be top-of-the-line for acrylic tanks. (and probably still are)

While it's true that a well-made acrylic tank won't leak...the same can be said for glass tanks.
Both materials have their good points and bad...neither is superior all around.

its pretty thick also like 3/8 of an inch and heavy around 200lbs.
he said its custom made and i notice there is a 2inch hole in one side of the bottom of the tank that he cover with piece of glass

That's lame. The hole in the bottom is for an internal overflow to feed to either a sump system or a wet-dry filter...which is about the best filter you can use for freshwater tanks...FAR better than any of the canister filters or Hang-on-the-Back filters...BUT, some people are nervous and unsure about using them...they CAN be problematic if not done correctly...

If it were me, I'd order one of these:

To fit the tank and set up an under-tank filter system...but that's just me. I think they're far superior to any alternatives. (nice place to hide heaters and other equipment, get better water flow without ugly powerheads in the tank, etc.)
