Getting a driveway paved

Currently I'm putting together plans to have a house built and have found a location that I really like the looks of but it will require about 1/4 mile drive to be installed. Does anyone have a rough idea of what this will cost? I'm in New Hampshire, certainly a cold weather climate, and am just looking for a rough estimate here. The price of the land combined with the location makes it so I'm willing to spend a considerable amount if need be, just want to get a rough idea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it cost us over 5 grand to have an area of about 1/3 of that paved, and that was like 16 years ago

You are looking at big bucks if you want concrete. Asphalt would be cheaper and a gravel drive would probably be the best bet for 1/4 mile.

Thanks a lot for all the replies, if I'm looking at $12K on the high end that that is certainly worth it given everything else involved(I'm looking at a sweetheart deal on the land). I appreciate the feedback as I have been totally lost if I was looking at $3K or $300K for a project like that

Just keep in mind that if you choose Concrete or Asphalt, you're going to need to factor in maintenance costs. I would recommend going with concrete and making sure you install gaps so it can expand and contract....especially when you get snow on it. The worst thing for asphalt is to get a crack, water fills the crack, and it freezes....water expands, makes the crack bigger.

You can assume that concrete will cost X dollars per cubic yard (call to find out) You're going to want the driveway about 6 inches thick and factor in how many yards it will take for each section of the driveway you pour. L ft X W ft X .5 ft thick...just be sure to convert from feet to yards and you'll have an idea of how much ground you can cover. To soften the blow, you can always do a project like this in stages....start from the house and work back to the road so the truck won't get blocked...

get the road graded and side ditches and put in 3/4 inch crushed granite. looks better and still has the rustic appearance..mucho cheaper then asphalt.

Might want to add a turn-around area incase you start down that long road and change your mind too.
