You should get nForce chipset board instead of the VIA...since you use a 939 CPU and a Geforce vid card. They cost about the same.

all looks good except for the HSF, look into the XP-90

also, i would get a nice fortron PSU and save myself some $$$

that memory is WAY to expensive...get some value 3500 or 3700. timings mean squat for the athlon64.

and seasonic for a PSU? ive nerver heard of them, maybe someone can confirm if this PSU is good or not

seasonic is supposedly a good brand, though i've never used them. you may be pushing it only going with 400w though, so i would suggest a Fortron 530w, plus its 28A on the 12v.
Indeed, get some diff memory. lower price, higher speed.


if you want a VERY quiet, but still very strong psu, try the Thermaltake Silent PurePower Xaser Edition, 480w.

I just ordered parts for a comp on saturday.

Some very similar components...

Although I did go with the MSI NEO2 Plat and xp-90.

If you're so worried about CPU temps, I think you should consider water cooling. Nforce is just better than the via chipset.

I got the corsair value select for ram though instead of the OCZ. You will get much better performance by getting 2x as much ram from corsair than with your selection with OCZ. Of course, if you're gonna push the FSB to 250+, then perhaps the OCZ is the right choice. I guess I'm not an expert on that.

I got the neopower, but if you trust that PSU, go for it.

That's my 2 cents. Have fun with your comp.

Doesn't the video card recommend a 480w psu? I hear antec psu's are excellent. I also like the route your taking with the CPU, I might go with that one as well (I'm starting my system soon). As far as a motherboard, I'd go with MSI. Maybe a k8 Neo, or the neo2 platinum (nForce 4 chipset at the end of this month I think).

If i was building a completely new system right now, i'd wait for nforce4/pcie, but that's just me. Video cards are probably the most frequent upgrade for gamers, and they're all going pci express.

Yeah, I'd go with an nForce 3 chipset too, and definately loose the low latency RAM, doesn't do squat for you. With the money you save from buying overpriced RAM, upgrade the processor to a 3200+ or something like that.

Just my thoughts.

(Maybe I can get 2 gigs for 300? :D)

And are there ~500 watt single fan PSU's?

EDIT:

Also, I'm not 'so worried' about CPU temps, and water cooling is a no-go, too expensive.

2GB of RAM is a bit of an overkill right now (at least I think so) If you're really heartset on getting more RAM instead of a faster CPU though, here's a place to start (still going to cost you more than $300)
