Getting a CODE 10 on setup

I just installed an IBM (Intel) PRO/1000 T adapter, pn 22P6519 (22P6509) and installation hits a wall with "This device cannot start. (Code 10). In the device manager it has a yellow ! mark on the adapter and no IRQ has been assigned.

Running Win XP Pro. I tried the adapter in another PCI slot and in another computer - same results.

Is the device just incompatible or am I doing something wrong?
