Getting a bit skittish about a flight I'm about to take.

UA1737 from Honolulu to San Francisco.

Scheduled to leave at 6:30am this morning. Then it got delayed to 7:30 due to maintenance issues. Then delayed again to 8:40. And then AGAIN to 10AM. The plane is sitting right here in Honolulu somewhere.

At this point I'm wondering wtf is wrong with this plane and whether I should even take it. It's a 5 hour flight and nothing but hundreds of miles of cold ocean from here to San Francisco...

Relax you'll be fine. The water is only cold when you get near SF. You'll have thousands of miles of warm water till then.
 
When we went to England, the plane was 3 hrs late because of some mechanical failure. That's what you want to hear right before you try to fly across the Atlantic.
 
Don't worry, things like this happen. I've had it happen before, and when we took off, the engine backfired, I thought for sure I was about to die but landed safely at our destination. The captain got on the radio and said the engine "bang" is normal in high crosswinds, etc.
 
Nothing is wrong with the plane. It's the end the month and the pilots are over their hours. They need to fly in new pilots to fly this one out.
 
If you have to ditch... make sure you hold on to your seatbelt buckle. That way you can crack people in the had that try to climb aboard your raft.

"UA1737 on September 25 is delayed due to aircraft servicing."

That's what the status message reads and one of the customer service reps said its due to "something they noticed on its last trip back from San Francisco."
 
They just noticed the engine fell off. No big deal. They ordered another off Amazon and are waiting for the UPS truck to arrive.
 
i was on a plane that was about to take off when they told us that the airplane had the wrong kind of fuel put into it, and that they had to refuel it with the correct fuel.

yea i didn't feel too comfortable hearing about all that.

but to be realistic, the pilots going to do anything that will jeopardize their own life, so if they think it's fine to fly i feel comfortable with it too.

This!

I've been on many many overseas flights where they were delayed due to mechanical issues and none of the planes ever had any inflight issues (that I knew of).
 
I've had a premonition.

Please get on the plane. It's the sacrifice that the Island demands.

Heh, would you feel more comfortable if they _didn't_ have processes to detect and fix maintenance issues? Funny how we humans always feel like a thing that has just been fixed is more likely to break again right away.
 
My wife and I were waiting on our flight from Dallas to Miami after we got married and it was delayed due to a guy's hat being sucked into the engine. I felt kind of worried but I had to be strong, it was my wife's first time to fly lol.

I'm sure they suck worse things into engines but still not a good feeling.
 
There hasn't been a crash of a mainline commercial airliner in the United States in over a decade. Stop worrying.
 
Don't worry, you have a better chance of surviving in a water crash. However, the sharks can become a problem for survivors.
