I would rather have a 7800GT and 3000+ than a 4000+ and a 6600GT...

ok, i finally saved up some money to buy a new PC. but i really want the 7800 GT so i had to cut some corners with other parts. like a crap case and also a slower cpu, the AMD 64 3000 (1.8). now i have been told that its stupid to have a fast GPU if your CPU cant run it. so if i did get the 3000 just how slow would the 7800 GT run? would there be a huge change or not much at all, compared to a faster cpu?
if so, what CPU would you sagest? maybe the 3800? if that?s true i guess i better keep savin.
isn't that kinda loud?Originally posted by: thecoolnessrune
But then again, a Venice 3000+ would run cricles around my system. Just get a 3000+ and a Thermalright XP120 heatsink. Then get this fan http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/de12tfexhisp.html

QFT
If your into FPS games and eye candy, IMHO you wanna have the kick @ss vid card. CPU bootlenecking is way overstated for FPS games.
