Getting 13v+ on my Antec Sonata PSU

I had a problem playing a game online and that pushed me into looking over the comp. I ran the ASUS monitor and it was alerting to the 12v being out of range. It was like 13.6-13.1. So I opened the case and put a multimeter on it and sure enough it is @13.2. When I play the game it is @12.6v. Should I care or is this a GOOD thing.
 
holy crap that is a bad thing. Man if I were you I would probably get some help somewhere. 13v is not good at all, you're going to fry your system. How are the rest of your rails doing?
 
K everything is looking good there cept that 12 rail... yah man you might want to reconsider that PSU you are using. It's going to cause some serious harm to your system.
 
I have a spare Entermax I'll try that and see what happens. That sucks because the PSU that came w the Sonata has SATA power cables 😛 I have adapters but eh oh well. I f' with it and report back here. 🙁
 
That's cool you have a spare on hand. I use SATA power adapters on 2 drives with my Antec True 550. It is not a power issue at all, plenty of juice to the drives. Antec is pretty good, they should fix you up in a reasonable amount of time....that is weird, first time I ever heard of a wacked out 380 True....

As for Fans theres only the big one in the back I think its 120mm and the one in the PSU.
 
I highjacked the True550 that I bought for my server and put it in the Sonata. Thx Mucker for bringing it up I forgot I got one not long ago. 🙂
The messed up PSU in the Sonata is a True380S, too bad theres nothing I can adjust on it like the 550s front panel. BTW anyone looking for a great PSU the 550 is very nice. 🙂 The only thing that I needed to adjust was the 3.3v -was a bit high- and everything looks good. Checked through BIOS, ASUS Probe, and Multimeter and all is perfect.

EDIT: Check out the chassis fan speed. I love the 550. Just like a PC, so much control! 🙂
 
I am thrilled with my 550 True Control. Fan speed, and voltage adjustment all in one little controller in the 5.25 bay is excellent. Solid as a rock rails too.....

Don't give up on your 380 True, if you can replace it for free. That is a mighty little PSU, it may work well in your server.....

They're sending a new 380S 😀 Yep Antec is perdy cool. I told the guy "What if I can't find the recipt?" and he said I could buy one now and return the defective one in the box w/ the RMA. So when they get the defective one they don't charge the card. Thats better than waiting for them to determine the prob. and sending one later. 🙂
