alright.. heres the deal...Ive got windows 2000 on my computer and I really dont like it at all.. I wanna go back to Windows ME or 98 or something else...Ive got 2 hard drives, a 40 Gig and a 30 Gig... the 40 Gig is partitioned into a C: drive and a D: drive and the 30 Gig is a G: drive. All drives are NTFS... it seems I wont be able to convert the drives to FAT 32 without re-formatting my C drive and D drive... I try to do this but I dont have an MSDOS boot disk to run my computer in MSDOS where Ill be able to the commands... does anybody know where i can get one of these boot disks?? And if you do, do you know exactly how Id be able to get rid of Win2K?? like the commands and what not?? any specifications or anything will be of help.. well.. thanks..

Are you trying to do this while saving all the data on the drive or can you back it all up?

When you run fdisk, there should be an option to delete a non-dos partition, that should do the trick, I don't recall the exact sequence, but I know it's in there.

You're right, win 2k probably isn't for you. Boot from either CD (2k or 98/ME) and you will be able to reformat from there. Even if you use your 2k cd you can just kill the install after the reformat happens. Should be able to do it with just the 98 CD. After you reformat you can just boot into windows 98/ME and format the other drive from there.

You can't convert back to FAT 32 from NTFS.

Have fun crashing!!!! :D

yes it can and no it cant.. ive tried using partition magic to convert NTFS to FAT 32, and actually went throught the entire process 2 or 3 times... the re boot and everything, everything went smoothly, but then when i turn my computer back on and check... still NTFS, i think the only way to convert is by formatting the drive into FAT 32...
