Getright ?

When I use getright, my download speed is about 4k, but when I don't use it, the download speed is about 14k a sec. Anyone know why?

Depends on 1) how many files you're downloading at once using Getright versus not, 2) the speed of the server you're downloading from, and 3) internet traffic, maybe.

I don't believe it's any of those. I'm downloading from the same server. When I'm using Getright, I'm only downloading one file. And I know it's not Internet trafic. I'm downloading Linux from an FTP, and when I download it from the IE browser, it goes alot faster than when I download it in Getright. I don't understand it.

Is your download speed with IE 14k/sec constantly, or just at the beginning of the download?

Sometimes, while it waits for your "Run from location/Download" input and filename input, the file is already being downloaded. If I'm not mistaken, the download rate estimate is based on current downloaded size / time elapsed, this means a higher figure in IE.

Of course, it's my speculation and I don't have concrete info on the matter.

It's at that speed pretty constantly, it's also at that speed in Netscape. The problem seems to be with Getright.

I don't want to insult your intelligence (😉), but you did not set a download limit, right? It's in preferences - limits - speed limit.
Other than that, I can't really think of any explanation ... try reinstalling GetRight.

Have you tried using segemented downloading? I know it doesnt answer you question, but its what i use to get really fast d/l from getright
