Strange and Mystery aren't all that far removed from each other. It could be a matter of interpretation.

Japan (and korea) uses the same characters. My gf can write faster using these characters than she can writing roman characters (she writes plenty fast).

I took 1 year of Japanese and these characters are very very easy to write and remember. There's thousands of them but they're very simular.

Well most words are only one character. Reason why the name is so long is because Western names tend to be longer in syllables and also some sounds that can not be attained with one character is attained with two. Chinese is actually a very concise language. English on the other hand...
