Angle is fine with that pillow for a lot of usage but you can change the angle simply by wedging say a blanket under one edge.

BTW I have three iPads and three laptops.

On the couch I use:
iPhone 7 Plus: 70%
iPad Air 2: 25%
MacBook: < 5%

At my breakfast bar - flat counter:
iPhone 7 Plus: 10%
iPad Air 2: 25%
MacBook: 65%

For me, laptops are not for laps. They're for tables and desks (ironically).

For me:

On the couch:

iPhone 99%
13" Laptop 1%

In bed:

Laptop 95%
iPhone 5%

I found the iPads too cumbersome. Even got a mini but never used it even though it's right there on the coffee table.

For those rare times I use stuff on a table I still prefer the laptop over any iPad mini or otherwise.

The iPhone is decent enough to use while holding, but I had a plus for a few weeks and I (my wrist) just couldn't deal with it. If I need something bigger I go straight to laptop. Works great on laps and chests. I'm going to try a convertible to see if that improves ergonomics at all. But generally all my laptops are under 2.5lbs, and the one I use most is under 2lbs.
