Hi i currently have a san diego 3700+ running at 3ghz at 1.54 volts with a zalman 9500 heatsink. First off is that voltage safe for my CPU? secondly should i go ahead and get a 4600+ now or wait for the price drop. ive been hearing that the cpus may be phased out around the time the price drops and it may be impossible to get one.

Will i notice that much of a performance difference?

Wait. Youd have to be dumb to buy a new cpu right now with conroe coming out and future price cuts.

Well thats assuming the CPUs will be available later after the price cut. i mean what would be stupid is replacing an abit fatality motherboard and 4gb of very good ddr ram for no performance gain on socket AM2 if the cpus are going to be drieing up?

Well I would wait for price cuts. There is no reason to spend that much money now when you can wait a few weeks and get it at half the price. Altho your concern for the X2's drying up is a valid arguement...See here: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2974

Those end of life dates don't seem to include ALL of the X2's, but I'm sure with less options the one's that are left, may be in high demand. Expecially the 3800+X2 at $169.

Tough decision, but I personally....I would wait :)

Good luck with whatever you decide to do! Cheers!
