Get rid of (most) Telemarketers and Junk Mail

Not exactly a 'hot deal' to save money but it will save you a lot of time and annoyance. You can opt out of receiving those irritating telemarketing calls and junk mail by mailing in a few forms to the Direct Marketing Association:

Marketing Scum

Click on the 'Mail Preference Service' and 'Telephone Preference Service' links to fill out the forms, print and mail in. it takes about 3 months to get you off their databases (less if you pay $5 to submit the form online!).

Credit Bureaus
The credit bureaus offer a toll-free number that enables you to "opt-out" of having pre-approved credit offers sent to you for two years. Call 1-888-5-OPTOUT (567-8688) for more information.
