Get rid of landline and use cell phone only

I am thinking about dropping regular phone service and just using a cell for all my phone calls. I use my cell more than the regular phone so why pay for two? I only use about 200 minutes of cell a month. I don't make many long distance calls. I think a 300 minute plan for $30 will be good enough.

Anyone else ever do this?

Yes I am doing it right now. The only time it sucks is when you make calls to customer service and they put you on hold for a long time. Those are precious minutes wasted!!

yep, made the switch about a year ago to cell only.....i doubt that i would ever go back to a landline...

that's what i do when i'm living down by school.

too expensive to hook up a landline..so I only use my cell phone. It's pretty cool..b/c when my mom wants to nag or check up on me...she can't call my room to make sure that I'm really in my room. hehehe.

sprint gets horrible reception in parts of my house too... and they rape me on the bill sometimes... screw sprint

Verizon's America Choice plan is $35/300 with unlimited nights and weekends.

i dont think that's 300 hours

where tf can you get a plan for 300 hours a mo?!?

I'm thinking about it. One of the local cell phone companies just introduced unlimited local calling here in Vancouver,BC. You get unlimited local calling in the city for 40 dollars Canadian. Just not sure if I want to give up my ADSL and switch to cable.

well I like it otherwise -- I get 2,000 minutes and free nights/weekends and PCS to PCS calling plus a second line for $100/mo. This is plenty for us and it's less than we paid for the baby bell before we switched. Plus they give you free unlimited web and text messaging.

even my parents are considering this
they really like my monthly plan
i can practically talk whenever i want for $35/month tax in. (Canadian)

We don't have a land line now, and I'm using a free cell phone from work..all I can say is no internet at home sucks. 🙁 (no cable here that I know of..)

STFU. You know it was a typo.

I've used a cell phone as my only phone ever since I moved out of my parents' house (July 2002). It's worked great... except one month where they tried to charge me $700, but it turned out to be a billing error.

I have like 200 minutes plus unlimited nights and weekends.

Only thing keeping my landline around is DSL. Could switch to cable, but then I'd be in the same boat - having to get cable TV in order to 'qualify' for cable internet. Of course I suppose I could skip both and just go back to dialup...wait, no...argh.

LANDLINE has taken my sight, taken my speech
taken my hair, and taken my arms,
taken my legs, taken my soul,
left me with life in helll.........<que guitar solo>

(sorry when I saw landline I thought landmine)

I went this route when I bought my current place a couple years ago. The only downside for me so far is getting pizza or any other food delivered to a cell phone number. Around here they want a land line with a verifiable address before they'll come out.

🙁
