NEW! Dual core processors, now with built in hard-coded spyware!
So if amd and intel are both switching to DRM, and apple is switching to intel, does cyrix still make cpus? Who can we turn to that doesn't use DRM?
I think that it would be very productive for some OEMs to start advertising pre-DRM systems as "Fastest cpu that doesn't have built in spyware" and otherwise touting the absence. If lack of DRM is widely advertised as a feature, then sales of non-drm parts may provide enough market incentive to fight back the evil horde. Otherwise, what is the fastest non-drm cpu? If I can't get anything without drm two years from now then I may never go beyond the BP6 with dual celeron. Seriosly, if any of you sell a computer on ebay or something, be sure to mention lack of DRM as a selling point in your listing. Most people are too poorly informed to realize that the DRM "feature" is a value subtracting feature rather than value adding, but if you spell it out for them I think a lot of people would either get it or pretend to.
