Get nick back script for mIRC

Diamond Member
I've been using the same nick on the Gamesnet (now Gamesurge) IRC network for about 7 years. There is no NickServ, so you cannot prevent anyone from stealing. I know there are scripts that will automatically attempt to regain your nick, but I know next to nothing about installing them, much less writing them. Does anyone have a ready made script for this?

Whatever this script would do to 'get your nick back' is probably illegal. DoS most likely... but dont ask me how to do that, as I've never done it before.

Modeps you have no idea what you're talking about.

/notify <nick here> and then you have to write a script that checks to see if <nick here> left and if it did to change your nick to said nick.

I have every idea what I'm talking about. I got the impression that someone stole his nick and he wanted to get it back, just like his post stated but who knows? I could be wrong.

I read it as one of the many scripts that just /nick when the nick is free...

There are plenty of them out there, and I think most of the major scripts have the option. The best solution is setting up a BNC though.

Yeah, I'm not trying to knock someone offline for stealing my nick (although I feel that way sometimes 😉). I just want IRC to change my nick to default when it's available.
