I don't really kow the area since I'm from north NJ, but Eatontown and Tinton Falls are nice, but Shrewsbury is a nicer area, as are Red Bank, Fair Haven, Little Silver, and Rumson.

They also all get FiOS, except Eatontown

stay out of Longbranch as there are lots or bad parts North of rt. 36 and towards the middle of town. Almost the entirety of Asbury Park is condemned.

I live in northwestern New Jersey and it's beautiful, if expensive. Stone walls, farms, old houses, it's very much like Connecticut, only more Republican ;).

The parts of the state that most people associate with New Jersey are visible from the Turnpike, while the best parts are not.

Central Jersey representing. I like it here.

Whereabouts?

Lakewood, Ocean County.
That's not Central Jersey ;) Middlesex County is Central Jersey (representing)
We're too far north to be South Jersey and we're certainly too far south to be North Jersey. that makes us Central. :D

There are some beautiful parts of Long Branch. Also, Deal is gorgeous, but forget about living there. The houses are all huge multimillion-dollar mansions.

Is there any place in the towns you listed where there is a village or town area where there are restaurants, bars, etc and nice residential areas in walking distance?

I work near Red Bank too and considered moving here, but there didn't seem to be a lot of things to do for someone in their early 20's. That's why I'm interested in Bridgewater. Its not as nice as down here, but I grew up there and there's more to do.

In the end, I'd like to get a lot of money and just move to Massachusettes or something :)

OK... so I should move to Red Bank? That's the thing though. There aren't many APARTMENT complexes around here majorly decent. :) Or none that I can find.

I'd love to live down here for a little while, that would rock actually.

then you haven't been looking. pick up the Asbury Press and look at the classified section. also try a few online sources and local real estate people.

I'm looking to maybe rent a house and split it with my co-workers or maybe a 3 br condo.

SJ is awesome sorry. And, if you like the city, philly is closer to most people than those that live in PA.

Yay YAIHNJT (Yet Another I Hate New Jersey Thread). I Live in Jersey City right now (Journal Square) but my home is in Bridgewater. Beautiful clean town. Nice mall. Pretty boring now that i'm used to the NYC life but still. Depends on what you like. I can name many many towns in Jersey that are just as nice or nicer. If you want the crazy/have fun/drinking life, you got New Brunswick, Hoboken, and of course Manhattan. It's no better or worse than any state... actually, check that. It's better than Connecticut. Connecticut is pure evil. Hemmorhoids are better than Connecticut.
