WOOT! Mine shipped today, a bit earlier than predicted. I should get it in around Thursday, according to Dell.

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY, HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!

That reminds me: time for my night meds...

Didn't know about the second skin, hah. Thanks OP.

Here's a few more tips/tricks you can do with these speakers (stolen from another board):

Boost Mode - Ultra Home Cinema Effect
At full volume contiune turning the knob.
Boost mode will then be activated.

Boost Mode - Far Beyond The Level of Human Hearing Effect
There's also Boost 22 for people who use analogue. Just crank it all the way to Boost11, then hold down mute button, and keep cranking it up!

Volume+
Hold down the mute button as you turn the knob for Volume+ effect.

Diagnostic Mode
When the unit is off, if you press and hold the Input and Effect buttons simultaneously for six seconds, you will put the unit in "Diagnostic Mode". In this mode, whenever a digital stream is detected, it will display information about that stream for five seconds, just like a receiver does. Might as well always leave it in this mode. It doesn't hurt anything, and the information is fun to have.

WOW, I didnt know about that and DAMN THATS F'N LOUDER!
And I thought they were loud going to the end of the bar
Will have to kill the bass though to the min if you use the boost ;)
At least I did playing some audio slave for the 10 seconds I tested this out with, before I couldnt take it anymore, never thought I would say it would be too loud, bad damn, that was freaking too damn loud at boost 22!

EDIT!
You dont have to wait to max out at boost 11 to hold mute down to boost 22. At anytime in the regular volume hold mute down I found out and it will do Volume + 1-11 making the normal range boosted by 11 if the normal range is still to low before even having to hit max and boost

Any other Dell deals that could pair up with this? They always have a 10% or 15% off deal going on...that would make this UBER.

Great thread.

I don't know much about speakers, and I'm definitely no audiophile, but I do want some "decent" audio for watching movies in my apartment.

Would these work in conjunction with my TV/360?

Big time, great sound, on the super cheap. As much as I hate to do it I may be selling one of my 2 sets with the Z680 speakers, I am in need of cash badly for some projects. Look for a listing very soon, when I can put my trade one with my speaker one, and still get my point across in my topic. I suck at doing stuff like that, as if this topic did show that.

Just wanted to help out a bit more with this thread.

Link to a LOT of reviews: Google Results

TweakNews in-depth <-Great product shots to show the size of this system.

Audioholics <- very good (although short) review of the build & sound quality. This sounds like it was written by YOyoYOhowsDAjello (that's a good thing) - very informative, to the point, and both analytical & subjective reviews.

You don't need to get a new soundcard if you buy these right? You could just use the regular stereo/analog connection from any old soundcard for your PC?

I got some 30 dollar GE Speaker stands from Target, Works wonderfully.

The thing is, you don't mount it, but use the small pedestal included with the stand.

The screw that holds the plastic stand for the Z5500 speakers is apparently something you should not remove because it would void the warranty and cause some nuts to rattle inside. But a while back I read that you can remove the screw, pop the speaker open, remove the nut, then mount it. But the thing is, the angle of mount is at like 45 degrees, rather than 90 down or 90 up, so that's tricky too. So you could try to bend one of the mount included with the speaker stands. Complicated...

I love these speakers :)

Tweaknews review, and this part is sooooo true about stuff falling off walls:

She is completely deaf........No joke, she can't hear a thing. Nadda...Zilch....

What I guess caused her to file the complaint is that I cleared 13 pictures off of the adjacent wall where our two suites attach. And yes, that wall was the same wall where the subwoofer was placed. From what I was told, I vibrated that wall so badly that almost all of her paintings, photos, trinkets or whatever vibrated and fell down.

So what's the moral of the story? This system is so loud it will piss even deaf people off.

One thing to keep in mind though when looking at that review, or other ones using the version one system that first came out, is they show the back of the sub and speakers with rca jacks and wires, that is not the case with the newer ones made, They have no wires attached to the speakers, and spring clips on the back of the sub so you can use the wires they provide, or longer ones if need be of your own, you provide. Back of the sub looks nothing like the one in tweeknew's review.

Why you do what I been saying, and ditch the oem speakers they give with the Z5500, they are crap, and go to ebay, Justdeals.com, or here in the fs/ft section and buy up ALL of the Z560/680 speakers you can get your hands on. They are bigger then the Z5500 oem, have a much better build quality, and ontop of it all, gives you the lower end mids the Z5500's were lacking in with slightly better highs, making the system really shine ;)
Logitech should never of switched to those cheaper, crappy ones for the oem, and stuck with the other ones for they were sooo much better.

Did it to both of my systems, and never looked back. They are the same exact ohms as the Z5500 oem, so no fear of blowing anything up either. Not saying that the oem suck and sound bad, but if you had a set of Z560 speakers laying around as I had and hooked them up to the system, you would of noticed the difference as I did, for the better. If you have nothing to compaire them to then they still sound great, just my mind kept saying "hook them up Jay, you know you wanna, do it-do it-do it-do it, they are sitting right behind you, take but two minutes, and if they sound bad, then I will stop bugging you, but if they dont then I am bugging you to buy more, so do-it-do-it-do-it" And to shut my mind up I did. Glad I listened to myself. Got them on the super cheap, and sold my oems putting a few more bucks in my pocket in the end.

You can, but that would be like having a Celeron power an 8800GTS.

This is a surround system designed for 5.1 channel hookups, either discrete analog or digital. No doubt Stereo will still sound amazing, but you'll only use 2/5 of the system.
