err... that was the first post I made in this thread... I thought it was funny, don't gotta attack me or nothing....

Your confusing me because of the avatars maybe?

LOL yeah - sorry 😀

I confused your Avatar- like it is so unique or something 🙂 sorry about that...

Well, it's an idea, but how often do you play 2 video games at the same time? 😛

It'll likely be 2007 or 2008 before I get a multi-core. 😉

this thread is ghey

EDIT: Oh and i didn?t think the windows API is capable of running two concurrent games, are you sure that you were running both WoW and BF2 at the same time? 😕

Hella ghey.

How in the world do you use your mouse in both games?

I hate anything beta. Yes, multi-cores are the way to go IN THE FUTURE but those who often tout the dual cores don't often mention all the bizarre problems that many people have reported.

I'm not the kind of guy who wants to set any settings just to play certain games. Hell, my brother went back to Win98SE because he wanted to play his favorite game. It wouldn't play in WinXP even in Win98SE compatibility mode.

Well, I don't care a bout the 1 or 2 who have problems, they might have problems with ANY system. I have 2 of them, and most everybody else here who has one has no problems. These 1 or 2 instances keep getting brought up as "many people have reported" crap. If you don;t have one, shut up about any problems !!!!!

BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MINE !

C'mon AMD bring us the 3400 X2 for $245 so I can get my cheap butt to break down and buy a dualie!!

No I won't shut up. Because it's unethical. What are you now anyway? The spokesperson for dual cores? Are you going to have a crap if someone gets a single core? Does that cause you any emotional problems?

Cripes, it's so friggin weird if you try to repeat the truth and someone gets angry at you for pointing out something negative.

If you insist on telling me to shut up, I'll post all the links to threads about people complaining about their dual cores. There ya go.

i would get dual cores... but it way to out of my price range. so i settled for a little amd 3000+ venice.
i'm going to wait till quad cores come out and dual cores drop to single cores current price and get one -.-

I was playing world of warcraft, and I alt tabbed out so one of my addons could scan and catalogue the auction house (it takes abotu 20 min). While that was going on, I decided to see how BF2 would run. With the highest possible settings in BF2 I was getting about 60 FPS and absolutely no lag with world of warcraft running.

Once windows loads I can start playing games, browsing the internet, etc.. right away, I don't have to wait for any of my programs to load. Dual core is incredible, I haven't even tried to overclock it yet. I don't even notice when my virus scan is going. All I really do is game, but there is always some kind of program going on in the background. If you have $350 to spend on a CPU, get a dual core.

Welcome to 3 years ago, intel has had hyperthreading for a while and it does most of what you mentioned except running WOW and BF2 which I have yet to try.

Duh ! The X2 is in a class way above a P4 with Hyperthreading. Way to thread crap !

Of course it is, but all of the advantages, except for running 2 games at once (WHY?!) could be had at reasonable performance with good old HT.

Yes, weel, I have read them all. Two of them are now banned members for spewing FUD. And the last couple probably can't figure out how to fix their problem. If 99.9% of everybody that has one, has no problems, how could it possibly be a problem with the processor ? Maybe because there is no problem ? Except the one between the chair and the keyboard ? Or Microsoft ? I am saying if you keep repeating the 1/10th of one percent that say they have a problem, you are exacerbating the problem unnecessarily, that is why I am upset.

Problems with dual cores:

http://www.desktoppipeline.com/handson/170702208

?However, that doesn't mean Intel is out of the race. AMD?s dual-core Athlon X2 processor has had its share of problems as well. AMD decided to use an existing form factor for its X2 processors so that they could be plugged into existing motherboards and used effectively ??with just a simple BIOS upgrade.? While this sounds good, in practice it often takes several BIOS revisions to get a system working at or near the promised level of the Athlon X2. As usual, it will take a product-specific motherboard to put the polish on the part.?

Intel's dual-core Pentium 4 a rush job

That design creates some problems in that dual-core processors must have some logic that coordinates the actions of both cores, and those transistors have to go somewhere in an already small package, Douglas said.

I may just "downgrade" to an amd athlon64 4000+ san diego and use windows XP pro if I can't get this fixed.

Most likely there will be even more problems with Intel's version of dual cores.

Gaming performance is, currently, highly based on single-threaded performance and thus, we see no benefit from dual core.

I've been experiencing some issues when it comes to my games

Almost all of those are because people are not using the X2 driver. This has been beat to death in other threads, especially due to a-holes like you that won;t listen. So you blame a bad bios from an incompetant motherboard maker or a person that can't correctly configure thier PC, or Intel in the one case, on the X2 ? I don;t want to hear about Intel's problems, as we all know they have a crap dual-core.

I see. So if I wanted to give up my K8-class (read: 2.7ghz) single threaded performance for a P4, I could have gotten ALMOST dualcore class performance with HT?

Wow, there is a reason the X2 is better than a P-D, people.

I started reading some of those links. We are talking the X2 here stupid. We know the Intel dual-core ir crap, and we aren;t talking Apple either. JUST X2 !
