Get back at credit card companys

You know how you get credit card apps in the mail every day. Capital One sends like 4 to my address everyday, addressed to the people who've lived in this house up to like 5 or 6 years ago.

I used to just throw them away, and complain about all the junk mail I got. Now I repackage everything back up in their return envelope (nothing is filled out). And mail it back to them. So they have to pay for the postage.

If you really want to get back at them, put something heavy in there, that way they have to pay more than the standard $.39.

If everyone who's sick of those dumb offers were to do this. It would cost the companys LOTS of money, wasted money. And maybe the would re-evaluate their marketing strategies.

Someone posted this about a week ago, and I asked them if they had this stroke of genius before or after Maddox's website entry about the very same topic. So I guess I'll ask you, did you get this awesome idea before or after Maddox posted it to his site?

To be honest, my dad gave me the idea about 3 days ago. And I decided to spread the word.

Although I came up with the weight idea myself

Couldn't you fill a box full of rocks and tape the envelope to the box and the CC company has to pay the postage based on weight?

Yup, taping the envelope to a small red brick works best 😛

Welcome to, uhhh, before the internet.

That's exactly what I was thinking. And the OP found out about this 3 days ago from his dad? Heck, welcome to the 1970's.....this has been quite common knowledge for decades, not something new.

And it has not stopped the credit card companies from sending out applications.

This is a complete waste of time.

I write them a nice rejection letters with the reasons stating why I have turned down their generous offer.

Wow good thing you are here to come up with genius idea that has never been thought of before and share it with us! Thanks, can I send you a donation? 🙂

I never claimed it was genius, just thought it was a good idea.

You're only hurting the US Postal Service.

why? they are getting paid

Read this:

So, you can't send a brick. However if you send the original contents back they still have to pay the USPS for it, and it should be delivered.

How does the Postal service know you didn't fill anything out? they dont.

Good point--just don't get a paper cut on your tongue 😀 😛

BTW, all the credit apps I get have pre-printed personal info on them . . .
