Just remember that the cost for thermal imaging film per copy/incoming fax is kind of high which can get expensive for high usage. The best price I have found on imaging film is at Costco B&M.

Sharp UX-460 Plain Paper Fax with TAD

5 Reviews:

2.5/5 Rating...Customer Reviews/Comments

"We bought this unit and had it for about 3 months before it started faxing and receiving totally black pages. It works as a telephone with caller ID, and thats about all it is worth. If you are smart, you WILL NOT purchase this unit!

You get what you pay for..."

"Great product for the money!!"

"JUNK - save your money and buy better quality!"

" Certainly not the top of the line"

"Great Product for the home or small office, January 24, 2000
Reviewer: An electronics fan from Boston, Massachusetts
I recently purchased this product and found the setup and installation to be a breeze. The directions were clear and to the point. The digital answering system is a very useful addition to a great fax machine. The setup took me a total of about 20 minutes from removing it out of the box to sending my first fax. The transmission was surprisingly fast, it took a 1 page document about 10-15 seconds to go through. Overall I gave this product 5 stars because it's a great fax machine at a very reasonable price."

Additional details re PANASONIC KXFM106:

PANSONIC PLAIN PAPER FAX

Panasonic's affordable KX-FM106 six-function fax machine is designed to save space in a small to mid-sized home office. The device works as a plain paper fax, PC fax, printer, scanner, copier and telephone. There is a 28-page document memory provided in case the 150-sheet paper tray is empty when a new fax comes in. By connecting the KX-FM106 to your PC computer via the rear panel RS-232C serial connection, you'll be able to fax documents directly from your hard drive. This machine also supports IQ-Fax Internet faxing -- a method of using the Internet to make long distance faxes for the price of a local call.

The KX-FM106 can also be used as a 400 x 400-dpi scanner or as a copier with enhanced functions like enlarge, reduce and collate. The document feeder holds up to 15 pages.

The phone features are fairly standard. Caller ID lets you know who's calling you in advance of lifting the receiver. The combination of 106 number auto-dial and broadcast fax capability let you get the word out fast. The front panel features a 16-character LCD readout.

SuperCom, it's interesting that they price matched it for you, since the $20 in-store savings is also a coupon. You probably got the right CSR on the phone. ;)
