Everyone connected to the internet should install a good firewall like zonealarm (the free one) to stop dumbass hackers from using there machine in a "Denial of Service Attack". Do it today or you may not be able to get into your favorite site.

With as many computers as there are on the Internet, how many of them have info worth reading or are worth stopping the service of? Anyway...I don't think it's all THAT necessary.

It isn't Rhetoric, I couldn't get into a site because some script kiddie was doing a denial of service attack agianst it. If you don't have a good firewall they can use your machine to do it with. Everyone on the net should have a firewall to prevent this.

BTW: I doubt everyone here is running a firewall...

if you have half a brain then you dont need a firewall. for somebody to use your comp in a DOS attack you would have had to install the trojan on your machine. theres no way somebody can put the trojan on your comp even if all your ports are open and accept random connections. the user has to install it or be tricked into instaling it.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything,but, BlackIce isn't a firewall.

Edit: You should try ZA instead of BI. I reread what my post said after I posted and it looks like I'm being a smartass. I don't mean it that way, sorry.
 
There is no stable firewall software on the market, so I'm not going to buy any of them. The same with virus scans... they're not extremely stable either.

Zone Alarm 2.6 is perfectly stable in at least Windows 98SE, Me and 2K.

been running Zonealarm 2.6 since it came out and have never had a problem with it. And even older version of Zonealarm I never had them crash or anything. DOn't know what you are talking about.
 
my firewall is freesco 🙂 Later to be the SMC router deal.. my box is dying and it'll be easier for my non-technical family to deal with when I'm not here.
