Damn you people get the car FIXED!!!!! Came across two of them today. First one was an old Mercedes Diesel (prolly late 70's, early 80's) pumping out oodles of black smoke from the exhaust which immediately overpowered me in my "cockpit." Now I know that Mercedes diesels aren't the cleanest of cars, but the smoke shouldn't be THAT heavy.

About 15 mins later a '93-'94 Plymouth Voyager pulls out in front of me leaving a trail of cumulous clouds of funky white smoke for a few miles down the road.

Can't these people get tickets for this crap? GET YO SH!T FIXED BIATCH!!!! :|

Hehe, when I was a kid my father had this station wagon. It was burning oil, and would let out these huge plumes of smoke. He decided to take us to Burger King, and when he stopped at the drive up window, the wind shifted and blew all the smoke into the restaurant. All you saw was a hand reaching out the window with a bag of food. The poor workers were coughing their heads off. My mom hid under the front seat, but us kids thought it was quite comical. Though now, I would find it embarrassing too, I am sure. :D

So, I guess we were one of those people your referring to, right? ;)

Yeah I know what you mean. But here in ontario they make everyone go in for emissions checks...and if yours isn't up to snuff, it's coming out of your pocket baby :) Gotta get it fixed.

You mean a car isn't supposed to burn oil faster than gas? Damn.

I was also one of those people this summer. My daily driver car broke down and while I was waiting on it to be repaired I had to drive the "project" jeep. The clutch was so shot I had to turn it off at stops sometimes to find first, smoke poured out, etc. I coulnd't afford to have that engine reringed then so I drove it, kinda enjoyed it too :) Here in the southern part of llinois we dont have emissions test or anything crazy like that ;)

White smoke = Head Gasket at the very least = $$$$$
Black Smoke = Fuel system malfunction = $$$$$

Seeing a pattern? Hey, they got to get to work somehow, so they may not have a choice. It does suck getting stuck behind them though.

Those early 90's Chrysler minivans have a flaw in the design of the PCV system that causes them burn oil. Everyone I see produces billowing clouds of bluish white smoke.

My 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon was just towed to the Metal Mortuary. <sniff, sniff> It left such a lovely black stain on my driveway, and I can't bring myself to clean it up. I'm having retro-boat-on-wheels withdrawal pains. :(

And YOU might have said something nasty about my car. But thankfully you are stashed away for 3 more years in the Tar Heel State and Sanitarium. :p

My 86 Parisienne is nice, just turn the mixture screw one way and the car purrs, turn it the other way, and see ya later vegatation! :D

The best is when the engine is flooded...5.0l (305 ci) is a lot of engine to un-flood :D

Actually, I flooded it once on the morning after a snow storm.
After 10 minutes of trying, it cranked over....walked aroudn the back of the car...though I was walking on ashphalt but it was really snow covered with un-burned gas.....from 5 feet behind the car :(

Feel sorry for the catalytic convertor :( :( :(
