Get a Civic or WRX? Doesn't the question sound stupid?

'99/'00 Civic Si FTW.

For the lose you mean, I think the majority of those have been stolen at least once and have been driven hard. At least the new Civics have engine immobilizers to deter joyriders and amateur theives.

You can check insurance without doing much homework. Go to autotrader (online) and find a Civic and WRX like you might want. Autotrader has the VIN listed. With the VIN, you can call your insurance company and tell them that you are thinking of buying a new car, but you want to compare the insurance prices. Tell them same as you have now on all the coverage to help you compare now and what they have for either model. It would talk about 20 minutes tops.

Of course, the Camary may be tiptop again soon... 😉

I just go to esurance, put in some fake info (same city/zip though) and coverage. Then get the final quote, go back and change cars. Took me like half an hour to do a TON of cars. A lot better then being on the phone and wasting your time. It took me like 30 seconds per car whiel on the phone with the agent, it took like 3 minutes a car for the same info.

CAMRY <--- only one "a" and no "e".

And buy the way, $10k is a lot to spend for a used Civic. I got a used Accord EX for barely over half that price and it runs perfectly, and is nicer than a Civic - even one that's a few years newer.

A cracked distributor cap will let water in when it rains, and cause your car to stall out. That's the first thing I thought of when I read what your problem was.

A cap + rotor kit would probably be ~$20, and is very easy to change yourself (on most cars). Pull the dist cap and look for cracks or evidence of water getting into it.

$20 > $10k

it could also be worn out sparkplug wires. A good test to find out is when it is dark out lift the hood and (with the car running) use a squirt bottle and spray water everywhere. If it looks like a fireworks show than it's your sparkplug wires... which happens to be a relatively easy fix, I think 😱
Wires, $20
Cap, $12
Maybe 1/2 hr. to 45 min.

That's what I thought, until I realized I needed tools! Then you'd have to buy the deep sockets too and the long arm adaptors.
