Gernal Power supply question

Hi, all

I have a question about power supply

If I get a 400 W PSU,
and let's say the components in the PC only consume 200 W

Do I consume 400 joule of energy or 200 joule of energy hourly ?

electricity is expesnive these days

No. Power consumption will be whatever the components draw + whatever the P/S loses in heat.

My 450W Enermax is probably only drawing half that right now, if that.
