Then there is "Heidenroeslein", a very famous folk song based on a poem by Goethe.

Although, I'm not sure how you expect to learn about Germany from songs....

Seriously though, if you have a hobby, then research the hobby in the German language. Much easier accomplished nowadays with the internet.

It's actually to one's advantage to learn the written portion first. German is very consistant with the vowels....und Umlauten.
