Yeah, nothing creepy at all about the government deciding what is "fake news" and fining those who publicize things it deems fake. That's an awesome way to control the media. You get to decide what is "fake", and then you fine those who post such "fake" news. Sweet!

It is most certainly not optimal I agree but I do think its the optimal outcome given the circumstances.
Plus we are "only" talking social media, a platform that some has honed as a propaganda spitting machine of their own.

They've been actively punishing its citizens (for over a year now) on social media posts that might be "hate speech" (aka non-PC concerns over their current invasion problems... er... "honoured guests".)
This is merely taking it to the next level, making sure ALL media complies with Merkel's progressivism.

You would think the history revisionists would applaud this. Nope, not when there is a chance to play the vicarious victim...

Insanity is contagious especially when it cloaks itself in the garb of sanity. The Germans jhst watched American conservative brain defects elect Adolph Hitler. 50 million people died in on the planet the last time that happened, before there were nuclear weapons. Don't be surprised to see an antidote put into effect. The right is going insane again and this time must be resisted. The issue that is difficult to handle is that the insane ARE insane and the sane know the difference, You want to be insane fine, but when your insanity threatens others with understanding, look out. Only truthful people know the difference between truth and a lie. Who on the right is truthful? 50 million dead woke a lot of people up. What country would give madness another shot at the wheel. What country is full of people who belong to the master race? Who are the entitled people? Make America Great Again, the sickness of the ego. I would settle for making it decent again, modest and self effacing, welcoming, etc.

People at an infantile state of emotional development always fear a Nanny State not seeing they make one necessary by creating what they fear, a need for one.

So disagree with current government policies and write a blog and it's fake news? Isn't that becoming like North Korea and China?

No that isn't what is happening. Write a story saying air force 1 pilots refused to fly Obama to Hawaii to just play a round of golf and its fake news.

Yup. Here it is.

Fake news is news that might cause any harm to the government, media or anyone of real significant power.

It is sad how many people are supporting mainstream fake news that the fake media on TV puts out 24/7 but yet are outraged when some internet guy does the same.

Fake is fake. (But I guess the corporate media has a mandate to spread disinformation without getting in trouble. LOL, the corporate media's policy is probably to spread fear and disinfo).

What a (fake) world.
