When was the last time Poland did anything right? have you ever been to poland? I have, it is so infested with criminals that most people are afraid to walk through the streets of the major cities... Gang wars and mafia wars are daytime activities...

You should inform yourself before making a statement, things have changed since the fourties...
STFU.
Poland isn't an unsafe country. The only real problem is car theft and maybe pocket picking. Nothing else.

Why Poland, they already have the full backing of the UK, Italy, and Spain.

What happened to Germany you ask? Look at your economy, and you suggest you should be leading anything? Just start another world war already, make it like ww1, then France can carve up the middle east again, look how well that panned out....

Has anyone even mentioned the important thing here? The US is going to only control one third of Iraq until power is fully handed over to the people, a little different than the imperial conspiracy theorists suggested.

I have been to Poland, my friends go there every year for vacation, and what you say is not true, here are some statistics:

Poland crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 2001: 3,597
Germany crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 2001: 7,736
USA crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 2001: 4,160

After reading several of your posts in this thread it seems to me that you have some sort of personal bias against the Poles. From reading your posts people would think that Poland is inhabited by troglodytes and is the worst country in the history of the world. Yes, they have their problems there but don't we all? To be perfectly honest they haven't exactly had life easy in Poland. Decades of oppression are not something that can be overcome in just a few years.

So because they have crime, their military should not be in command of a small force?

No, because they screwed up their own country they should not be given the chance to screw up Irak too...

That is my point...

I can't believe the ignorance, misinformation, personal feelings or whatever else it is that is causing you to post such b.s. Judging how emotional you are on this subject maybe you got mugged or rapped there, and that is why you spread the lies?

If you read a little bit about history of Eastern Europe you'll know that it is not Poland that screwed up their own country but it is Communism that screwed up all of the Eastern Europe. The smaller countries like Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland etc. had no choice but to succumb to USSR after WWII. Currently they are still in the process of democratization even after over a decade of freedom, so obviously there are still problems in the government but nothing out of extraordinary compared to other countries in that same position.

Get your facts straight and stop your witless rants.

Poland : The perennial puppet state.

Ah, yes, anyone who supports the Bush administration is a puppet yet anyone who opposes it is a hero and a leader. Oops, your blindness is showing.

So what's Poland doing in Iraq, aside from sucking up to the US? But hey, after centuries of being occupied, they'll get a chance to try being on the other side. ;)

That's exactly what they are doing, sucking up. I was against the invasion of Iraq by US and also against Poland (where I was born) taking part in it. Unfortunately, they made that decision based on a potential economic gains rather than morals, as the greater majority of Poland was against the war. You can already see the benefits gained by sticking with US, like a very favorable contract for 48 F-16 fighters or the most obvious one, a hand in rebuilding Iraq.

I am straight from Poland, I have been living in the US for the last 6 years, and I often come back to my homeland.
I would like to point out that no single statment written by SnapIT is true.
I feel sadden that this person makes such a vicious comments about Poland, my country.
Yes the organized crime is the problem, but you have to understand that the Polish Police force is just learning to deal with this threat. Unfortunately we are still in a process of transforming our country and economy to the "western standards".

Please do not be an ignorant.
We choose F-16 before being tied up with war in Iraq. There were 3 contenders: Swedish (SnapIT is Swedish) Grippen, French (yes, French) Mirage, and an American F-16. Each of the contenders was trying to outbid another contedner by offering very attractive package of loans and comprehensive offset plan. We simply choose the best political and economical offer.
There is nothing wrong with doing that and of course I am proud that the decision of our government is going to save few jobs at Lockheed Martin....
