like computer is computer in german, bios and ram would be bios and ram, most likely neutral, das
 
actually BIOS and RAM are acronyms. So you'd have to translate Basic Input Output System and Random Access Memory.

could also be "der speicher" , for "the memory"

mostly....but "der rechner" for computer is quite common... ("rechner" meaning calculator)

But I'm guessing that's more slang? Anyhow, I think if he doesn't know stuff like this, he's more than likely in a lower-level class, so why does it matter? 😛
