You couldn't put this in the old thread?

Oh wait, forget I asked.

Everyone should've been doing that right from the start, and with nVidia too. That's how I've done it for years.

A number of sites have been, although it's sometimes hard to tell because often sites don't actually say what settings they use.
If more sites said explicitly what settings they used, there might be less tears.

"A number of sites have been"
Great! Which ones?

"although sometimes its hard to tell because often sites don't actually say what setting they use."
How can you tell it isn't default in cases where they don't mention it? If they don't mention it, IMHO that usually means default settings.

I'm still in favor of AMD keeping ASO on in their default settings (for the sake of your average end user), but for tech reviews I'm frankly stunned sites haven't been setting both AMD and Nvidia to HQ all along.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...eforce-gtx-570-gf110-performance,2806-5.htm

Moving forward, I'm inclined to use AMD's High Quality Catalyst AI setting for graphics card reviews, if only to get the best possible filtering quality.

The recounting of the meeting published by ht4u.net said that the new High Quality setting in Catalyst AI purportedly disables all optimizations, akin to what the Disable Catalyst AI option did in the past, while the Quality option strikes a balance between what AMD considers performance and image quality. In other words, the company says it is not purposely doing anything in software that would diminish image quality. We asked AMD for comment on the new slider, and it confirmed that setting High Quality indeed turns off optimizations, addressing the first concern we brought up.

Guess finally NVIDIA was able to get some sites to turn off the CAT AI.

Whelp, I figured I'd see a topic like this again, particularly with the impending release of the 69xx series. LOL.

Hey, if you "don't" want topics like this anymore, I suggest you make up a new thread with a poll. Two options.

First: I would like to be kept in the dark.
Second: I would like to know about these events as they become available.
Third: Any witty rethoric.

Deja vu? Hasn't this been beaten to death already? Oh wait... The 6970/6950 are fast approaching. Coincidence? I don't think so. This thread screams video card envy.

If you cant beat your opponents playing "fair", might as well play dirty :)
You dont have to make your cards fast, if you can just make your opponents forced to run slower (for no reason).

IQ thingy is a joke from what Ive seen, sad that this shows how much bias Tomshardware has.

I guess its not enough for nvidia to code bomb games to run badly on amd cards, now they get to dictate what settings review sites use for benchmarking, when useing the "others" cards.

Lets all finish off with some FUD about bad amd drivers, just to top it all off.

Spin from nvidia side bound to happend ^-^

You're a regular AT video forum reader are ya? ::: scratches head :::

Actually yes. I have been a reader here ever since the launch of the 4870 series. I decided to make an account some time ago when I noticed the abundance of nVidia fanatics that have appeared on Tom's. There I used to be a frequent poster.

hightech legion look at it with the GTX 570 review, they did see it in newer games:
http://hitechlegion.com/reviews/vid...gtx-570-directx-11-video-card-review?start=28

Hence it's clear this is a current issue, and some people at least are going to care about it. Hothardware sensibly tested the 5870 with and without HQ so you can see the difference in fps:
http://hothardware.com/Reviews/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-570-DirectX-11-Graphics-Card-Review/?page=1

Seems the best solution too me - those who don't care can read the faster scores and those that do can read the slower ones.

How can I be kept in the dark, when you admit in your original post that this is "old news?" Or is learning that THG is reviewing their games in HQ, which is something I thought they did already, news worthy? I guess it depends on perspective.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up! I look forward to more sites following suit.

Ok. And what about here? Does the approximate 8:1 ratio of AMD to Nvidia fans not bother you in the same fashion as the Nvidia fans did at THG? Or you don't notice that here?

Just asking.

Meh... what is this though? 4th thread about this? on the day of the 69xx release?

Conincidence? keeping people informed?
Im a amd fanboy... I admit that.. but mostly because of people like you that clearly have biased views as well (which Im sure ive read you admitting too as well), when they make threads like this on a launch date, when theres already 4 other threads on the subject.

Im not sure if this thread counts as flamebait.. but its close.
