A simple guide to defending your property:

1. Put your IPhone on your driveway, next to the sidewalk.
2. Set up a deer stand in a nearby tree. Make sure to stock it with plenty of energy drinks, granola bars and peanuts/cashews (your preference)
3. Sit in deer stand with a high caliber hunting rifle.
4. When someone walks by and notices the unattended IPhone in your driveway aim carefully and release your safety.
5. When the person steps onto your driveway shoot the repeatedly. IMPORTANT. They must have at least one foot on your driveway
6. Leave the deer stand with your sidearm (any side arm will do, accuracy won't matter here). Approach the person you shot. If they are still breathing deliver a "Clean finishing blow," with a single bullet to the head at point blank range.
7. Move the body to somewhere that other people will not notice
8. Wait 24 hours.
9. Call police. Claim self-defense.
10. Repeat as needed to eliminate all the criminal thugs from your neighborhood.

I do the same thing but with cheetos. I don't like seeing fat people in my neighborhood. Brings down the property values.

Stealing is stealing, be it an IPhone for the teenagers or Cheetos for the fatties. Just remember the 'one foot in the driveway rule' and you'll be good to go. Castle Doctrine, after all.

That is my problem as well. You can't bait a person into burglary.

Its basically the her skirt was too short so she baited me into "raping" her argument.

No, it isn't.

.

please explain how it isnt?

Having your lights off and your car not visible is now baiting a criminal?

Are you supposed to sleep with the lights on, and your car alarm on so that burglars stay away from you?

The thing that bothers me about this story is the way he blindly fires into the garage multiple times. What if he blasted one of his neighbor's young kids away? This was really an unjustified shooting and the guy deserves to go to prison.

The article clearly states that they saw the guy on the monitor they had set up with their alarm sysytem. So, it doesn't seem likely at all that they could have unknowingly shot a neighbor kid. They saw who they were going to shoot.

Sad story and not a good shoot. Why not just have the kid arrested? WTH is wrong with people?

You kill enough thieves you won't have anymore thieves to kill ^_^

Assuming you have a finite amount of thieves. Pretty sure history has shown that is not true.

Or alternatively, you could just encourage the thieves to become murderers first.

Actually there is one big difference.

Women wear short skirts because they want men to pay attention to them. They just sometimes get upset because they get more attention then they wanted or it wasnt the right dude.

Leaving your garage door open doesn't mean you want to get robbed.

These are the new murderers of America: baiters, ground standers, etc.

Pretty cunning,.. they are pretending to be victims, in order to kill and satisfy their blood lust. And, then their fans post praise and claims they are patriots.

Play loud music, knock on their door, throw eggs at their car, throw popcorn at them, steal land and then claim you are being invaded when the stolen land is taken back,... and, then they hide behind the guise of "this is what our forefathers would have done!"

I am torn on this. The kid shouldn't been in his damn garage anyway. I don't give a flying fuck that it was open.

BUT it was a setup to shoot anyone that came in.

I'm kind of torn on these... how can you "bait" someone into doing something they shouldn't be doing? It is still their choice to "take the bait". They're self aware unlike animals.

nice German kid, walking around a new neighborhood at night... sees a weirdly open door, and goes to investigate to make sure everything is OK. maybe the owner pulled into his driveway and had a heart attack before he could close the door? kid would have been a good samaritan hero for giving him CPR.

There is also the important statement where he mentioned to his hairdresser that we has waiting to shoot a kid and seemed pretty excited about it. This sooner this fuck spends the rest of his life in prison the better.

Not sure what to make of this. WTF was this exchange student doing in someone else's garage after midnight? But the homeowner should've given warning instead of setting up a bait for the kill. I think he may go to prison for that.

German student Diren Dede killed in 'castle doctrine' case
The father of a German exchange student shot dead in Montana after he trespassed in a man's garage has said the US cannot continue to "play cowboy" with firearms.
Markus Kaarma has been charged with deliberate murder in the Sunday killing of Diren Dede, 17, of Hamburg.
But he says Montana's self-defence law allowed him to shoot the boy.
Celal Dede said he would not have allowed his son to study in the US had he been aware of the lenient gun laws.
"I didn't think for one night that everyone here can kill somebody just because that person entered his back yard," Mr Dede told the German news agency dpa.
Pressure authorities
Mr Dede returned to Germany from Montana on Thursday after securing the release of his son's body, a German consulate spokeswoman said.
The son of a family of Turkish immigrants to Germany, Diren was attending Big Sky High School in Missoula, Montana, for one year as part of an exchange program.
Diren, known in Hamburg for his football skills, had only six weeks left in the programme.
Mr Kaarma, a 29-year-old firefighter, has told investigators his home had twice been hit by burglars, and he told a hair stylist he had waited up at night to shoot intruders, prosecutors said.
On the night of the shooting, Mr Kaarma and his partner Janelle Pflager left their garage door open, and Ms Pflager left her purse in the garage in order to bait intruders, she told police.
They set up motion sensors and a video monitor, prosecutors said.
When the sensors went off just after midnight and they saw a man on the monitor screen, Mr Kaarma went outside and fired a shotgun into the garage without warning several times.
It is unclear what the teenager was doing inside in the garage.
Mr Kaarma's lawyer said his client planned to plead not guilty.
The state allows residents to protect their homes with deadly force when they believe they are going to be harmed, said his lawyer, Paul Ryan.
"We know with no question the individual entered the garage," Mr Ryan said. "Kaarma didn't know who he was, his intent or whether he was armed."
He said that there had been a spate of break-ins in the neighbourhood and Mr Kaarma did not think the police were doing anything about them.
'Castle doctrine' defence
The suspect was released on $30,000 (£17,800) bond, and has remained in his home.
Montana's so-called "castle doctrine" law was amended in 2009 to allow deadly force if a homeowner "reasonably believes" an intruder is trying to harm him or her.
Before that, residents could only use such force if the intruder acted in a violent way. The legislation was backed by the US' largest gun lobby, the National Rifle Association (NRA).
State Representative Ellie Hill told the Missoulian newspaper she has proposed legislation to repeal the 2009 amendments to the law.
"What the castle doctrine has done in this country is it has created a culture of gun violence and vigilante justice," Ms Hill, a Democrat who represents Missoula, said.
"And it's created a culture that it's okay to shoot first and ask questions later."
Diren will be buried in Turkey, his family said. His football team in Hamburg, SC Teutonia 1910, played a charity match on Wednesday to help the family pay for the funeral.
Diren's friends and family in Germany expressed sorrow following his death.
"We had spoken on the phone just one day before," a friend told local media. "He had the best year of his life in America."
Another friend attended the charity football match organised for Diren's funeral.
"What happened is a sad story, and with this we want to show that we're all with him and won't forget him," the friend said.

Why would someone send their offspring to Montana, what the fuck is wrong with German people...

Again, another case where you should know the law of the land before you set foot on it

Something smells fishy here, like whether an exchange student had someone give him a bad idea about a spot someone else would knew would get him in trouble.

It'll develop, I guess.

*edit* yeah I should have read up more.

I'd say the guy that shot him is in for a bit of a Prison Term.
