Can we please just go back to paper ballots?
Then, you have secret ballot conspiracy. Rip up the paper ballot once received, and rewrite it. Sure it takes a lot of time to do it, but it can be done at most recorder stations.

If there is no validation phase, then there is no way to actually tell if fraud occurred.

Not in this country. The polls are manned by trained volunteers of both parties other than in very rare instances.

It won't change as long as those in charge believe it benefits their team.

Unless the grown-ups at DOJ force them to care (lol j/k).

Well I'm a Georgian (but I'm smart so I'm not a conservative) and this frustrates me very much. The incompetence of this state is just so incredible sometimes.

I know (I grew up in Augusta, live off Lake Hartwell now), but at least our roads are better than most of the surrounding states, esp. SC's. So there's that. On other issues, still stuck back in the 1940's.

Oh, and the stupidity of this issue, voting machines and software vulnerabilities never addressed, is outrageous.

Can we just go to automatic voter registration and vote by mail already? Still have an election day but stick it on a Saturday, allow same day registration, and do it manually.

I may not have understood the article completely, but I don't really see where this is particularly harmful? Obviously the server where these files are stored should have been secure, but those sound like public records anyway?

I don't see how accessing that information would allow hackers to affect election results. The GEMS databases were surely encrypted, and even if they were compromised the hacked files would have to be manually uploaded to every single voting terminal in the state before the election began to affect the counting/tabulation process.

i don't think you understand that data can be used to exploit targeting people or groups. the primary Russian hacking problem on our election is more of a social hack using targeted fake news, not a direct ballot hack.
