Georgia Tech vs. UConn - NCAA Championship Game

Being the rabbid GT sports fan (and student) and not finding another similar thread, I figured I'd get us started on one so we can discuss the big game tonight. Of course there's the poll as well, who's gonna win tonight after all is said and done?

I'd like to throw a couple items out there for discussion. GT beat UConn earlier in the season in the NIT preseason tournament held up in NY at MSG. Why do you suppose nobody feels like that earlier win has any relevance to tonight's game?

GT plays at a frantic pace to try and break down the opposing teams defense. I believe we're actually playing at a faster pace now than earlier in the season when we played UConn previously. What kind of impact will this pace have on UConn and will they be able to manage such a pace in this game?

And lastly, what effect will Emeka have on the game? Will GT defend him in such a way that he's going to become a non-factor in this game?

Ah well, I felt the same way when some commentator was talking about a potential Men's and Women's Championship for Duke awhile back. Georgia Tech has put together a great season and I think we're in for a hell of a game tonight. I really do believe we're going to see UConn Basketball pick up 2 Championships in the next two days.

my only concern tonight is that uconn cover the spread... it is at 6 points right now.

id like the women Huskies to win, but not the men only cause they're playing against Tech....

thats what everybody said about every other game Tech has played in this tournament...

don't forget, Tech is the only team to beat both UConn and Duke this season...

I think Tech will be able to shut Okafor down a number of ways, just like they did to wayne Simien of Kansas.. although Okafor is on a different level than simien, i still think they should be successful at sending him to the line.. Tech has such a strong number of good bench players that they can afford to send the Guards in with their quick hands to slap the ball out of okafor's hand, risking fouls.... that is only IF UConn can get the ball inside to him..

i hate tennessee and was rooting for LSU myself to go all the way... it was unfortunate how TN scored the last two points of the game... what a miserable and pathetic way to end the game...

I found it interesting that GA Tech is closing their campus tonight to only those people with GA Tech IDs. Apparently, they're going to have a showing of the game on a big screen and then a campus-wide party after the game, win or lose.

ive still got my ID as well.. hmmm... thinking about going... however, if you have to scan your card to get into the Coliseum it will probably come up in error... i wonder...

Here's another vote for GT tonight. Not sure why the news outlets have been
down playing our awesome season. After watching us soundly beat USO for the
whole game I can't imagine why anyone would have picked them to beat us. ESPN
and the like keep looking for some dominating player or star this and star that. I mean
say UCONN decides to prevent us from taking an early lead by pushing D on lewis and bynum,
umm that leaves, Muhammed, Elder, Jack, Schensser, and Moore to do their thing. We're a very
deep team that has played great as a team all season long. There's no one star or dependance on
any one person, as the Elder scenario has shown. Sure the UCONN game isn't going to be easy,
but neither was the OSU game supposed to be, if you went by the pregame reports. Accordingly
all the Vegas Odds have UCONN up by 5. Its going to be nice taking all those people's money.
