Don't some other countries offer accessible treatment for addictions? In the US, can you really seek treatment for addictions to these things? Or is an attempt to find treatment a quick ticket to jail? We're certainly good at locking tough problems away and trying really hard to ignore them (people with drug addictions, mental health problems...).Why not? Properly addressing problems isn't always easy to do. Burying them or pushing them out of sight......well, that's expensive, though quite profitable if you're operating a prison company.
