George Takei. You're up to bat.

George Takei next in the crosshairs. This was supposedly corroborated by four friends of the alleged victim.

The two men went back to the actor's condo for a drink the same night. "We have the drink and he asks if I would like another," Brunton recalls. "And I said sure. So, I have the second one, and then all of a sudden, I begin feeling very disoriented and dizzy, and I thought I was going to pass out. I said I need to sit down and he said sit over here and he had the giant yellow beanbag chair. So I sat down in that and leaned my head back and I must have passed out."

"The next thing I remember I was coming to and he had my pants down around my ankles and he was groping my crotch and trying to get my underwear off and feeling me up at the same time, trying to get his hands down my underwear," Brunton says. "I came to and said, 'What are you doing?!' I said, 'I don't want to do this.' He goes, 'You need to relax. I am just trying to make you comfortable. Get comfortable.' And I said, 'No. I don't want to do this.' And I pushed him off and he said, 'OK, fine.' And I said I am going to go and he said, 'If you feel you must. You're in no condition to drive.' I said, 'I don't care I want to go.' So I managed to get my pants up and compose myself and I was just shocked. I walked out and went to my car until I felt well enough to drive home, and that was that."

b-b-b-b-but but... he's an active social justice warrior that works hard to do virtue signaling all day and night with social media links and Twitter twat tweets all the time? He makes such a difference in the world by touching everyone.... in more ways than one.

You've watched one to many long hair you-tube videos.

Getting shitfaced has its consequences. It means you make poor choices, such as leading someone on... to spend the night with you. What do you think is going to happen? Does stopping when asked count for something? How drunk was Takei in this situation? Yes it's a problem, but it was long ago, it has mitigating factors. Let's not handle it like a witch trial at least.

Though I am at a loss. Should charges be filed 30+ years later? Seems odd to do so. Should the public shun and boycott Takei?
I'm leaning against wanting him punished. At what point do these drunken invites switch from private matters to public interest? Why should it be settled by the public and not between the private parties themselves?

Media has been rife with this stuff lately, to the point where I can't tell if it's a long overdue sea change and cleansing, or a vindictive witch hunt replete with bottom feeding opportunists. Perhaps all of the above.

Ya, so much all at once is difficult to wade through. Hopefully the victims get some justice and any fakes get found out.

Never been a Star Trek fan so this doesn't really affect me much. He seems like a good guy, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

But reading the comments on different sites, I love the double standards. Louis CK asked women if he could masturbate in front of them and when they said yes, he did? And he even apologized to them before the news broke? Nail that creep to the wall and end his career.

George Takei supposedly drugged and sexually assaulted a man without his permission? Let's all make some jokes.

At this point, it's starting to seem like a witch hunt.

The allegation is that he drugged him and initiated a sexual act. That is not ok period. In this case, we have only one account that has been denied categorically and was very long ago. We'll see if more come out to add plausibility. Otherwise we have a purely he said/he said case.

It's not really a witch hunt, even if it's leading to claims that are hard to prove.

The uncomfortable truth is that sexual harassment has been pretty common in entertainment. Victims were just reluctant to come forward because, in many cases, the perpetrators had all the power: snitch and they could end your career. Now that this is no longer a threat, you're seeing just how pervasive this behavior has been.

Also, there's a tremendous irony to the right-wingers crowing about an "SJW" being accused when they revere a President who has committed sexual assault and (according to a former wife) rape. Or Julian Assange, who fled rape charges. Or Fox News, where widespread sexual harassment isn't enough to get people fired (not for long, anyway). Or Milo, who's pretty much scum in a suit.

This doesn't excuse Takei if he's indeed guilty, just that it's rich to harp on his bad behavior.

There is a definite "he vs. she," he vs, he" aspect, and in this case it's hard to say right now, but in other cases we've seen, private settlements/hush money just encourage the behavior. "If I can just pay them off, and no one will know, why stop?" Privacy in these cases is an enabler.

The whole George story sounded more like drunken debauchery to me.
It was essentially we drank a lot, partied a lot, blacked out then gay sex. Which for the 80s is a pretty normal thing for gay guys at least according to the two gay guys I've known over the years.

Fixed that for you (removed the "in entertainment" as its not just a problem in entertainment, its a problem in society).

Yeah, that was pre-aids era and the gay community (at least in SFO) was pretty much stop, drop, and screw. The bathouses on Polk Street were infamous for anonymous encounters and orgies.

God I hope Patrick Stewart behaved himself.

After some incredulous comments, my wife asked what I was upset about. I told her I'm worried we're days away from hearing Patrick Stewart has a sex dungeon, complete with leather suited gimp.

I hope this isn't true.
