George Lucas lied! There may be a third trilogy

EPISODE 5: Once written, the screenplay of Empire is almost exactly what is seen on screen. The only cut scenes were those involving wampas in the rebel base (cut because of time and unsolved technical glitches) and about two minutes of Luke/Yoda Jedi training with no real dialog.
EPISODE 6: Leia was to be elected "Queen of her people" leaving her isolated. Han was to die. Luke confronted Vader and went on with his life alone. Leia was not to be Luke's sister.
EPISODE 7: Third trilogy was to focus on Luke's life as a Jedi, with very few details planned out.
EPISODE 8: Luke's sister (not Leia) appears from another part of the galaxy.
EPISODE 9: First appearance of the Emperor.

and the first 3 eps were about obiwan orginally, not anakin, and return of the jedi is really eps 6-9 condensed now.

Errrr. I have the original Ep1 script (first star wars script). All the stuff you just mentioned came later as star wars evolved. The original episode 1 script is actually quite close to a new hope, and I'm guessing that he rewrote it afterwards.

I'll be happy to put it up on a webserver somewhere for the fanatics too, I have it in a text file as well. I also have the scripts for ep 4-6. If anyone is willing to host I'll throw it up for the star wars fans here.
 
I don't want to see anything else written and directed by Lucas. If Lucas steps back to creater/producer (like he did for Empire and Jedi) and let's a good writer handle the screenplay, and a good director handle the shooting I'd love to see another 3 SW movies.

Um, I may be wrong but I thought it was Thrawn? Not Thwarn.
 
I keep hearing that the only stories after Jedi will be the books. So no episode 7-9.

But it might happen. Star Wars = Money, and we know George needs more of that 😀 😉
 
Didn't Lucas say there would probably be a 3rd trilogy but that he would not be directly involved in it? I could have sworn I heard that somewhere.

I think Lucas should make a Monkey Vs Robot trilogy 😉 MonkeyVsRobot

After seeing Episode 1 and Episode 2, I don't even think George should bother doing Episode 3. It's too bad really, I love the concept behind starwars and all the old episodes, but damn Jedi Knight 2 the video game is better than those 2 movies combined.
 
I don't care if GL even makes Ep 3. After Ep 2, I don't believe GL can make a good movie any more. Ep 1 I enjoyed and saw it 2 or 3 times but Ep 2 I couldn't even sit through a second time. The dialogue and character development was about as lame as any B movie and the only thing worthwhile in the movie were the visuals. ATOC spent almost no time on the intrigue surrounding what should have been the main thrust of the story; the development of the clone army and the plottings of the Palatine. Instead it gave us a whiner-boy, Anakin, and the worst dialogue in modern movie-making history. The movie should have been called " Episode 2: Whiner-boy Anakin Gets Laid".

I wonder if by saying "2011" he meant "never". 😀

You can tell Lucas took cues from the public between the making of E1 and E2. Jar-Jar was still there, but he kept his stupid mouth shut most of the time.

E1 and E2 were entertaining, but I find the original trilogy to be the ruler by which all must be measured. I wonder if Lucas will remember how to make movies like that again.
 
it is very unlikely he would give the starwars to someone else for direction right now. i read a speilberg interview at a british site called esquire at the time of minority reports release, he says he pleaded with lucas to give him one episode to direct in this trilogy, but george lucas outrightly refused because it was his thing. if george lucas can let go to a close friend like speilberg, i doubt he will give it to someone else.
 
Yeah, I remember back in the day how there was supposed to be nine episodes. Maybe if he hadn't taken that 16 year break...

Anyways it's impossible to make a 3rd trology that uses the same charactors. Mark Hamill is barely recgniseable as it is, so is carrie fisher. Harisson Ford is the only one people would recognise and it would look like solo aged 25 years between episode 6 and 7.
