I've never turned off "The perfect storm" if I've came across it channel surfing, that's the highest compliment I can pay to an actor or actress..
 
I feel bad I've only seen 3 movies he's been in all oceans movies. Dude is obviously the man on screen and IRL - will check out the recs posted in this thread.

BtW for you rednecks hating on him. The Black Sudanese are being exterminated by mooslims. I know it's conflicting who to hate more, blacks or mooslims, but think of 911.

This thread is just more evidence of how we are doomed as a society. Clooney is an actor. I am only concerned with what he does on the silver screen. Being an actor does not make you smart, in fact in many cases it is the exact opposite. People like him that are activists really only do so because they are arrogant and self important. I didn't care about the Sudan yesterday and I don't care about the Sudan today. I have more important problems to worry about....like the majority of people.

I'm fairly sure Clooney fully realizes that he's just an actor. He also realizes that for whatever reason our society pays attention to what he does so he can easily get publicity. If he goes to a protest to support a cause it makes national news. If one of us goes to a protest and gets arrested we might get a few sentences in the local news. The man if fully aware that his fame is something he can leverage to attract attention to a very bad situation and has decided to use it. He just got massive free publicity for a good cause, how is that stupid?

As for not carrying about Sudan, if no one cared about people just because they weren't nearby the world would be a pretty crappy place.

it isn't. pure genius actually. drew a shit ton of attention to his cause (which he has been working on since 2006) and got his name out there too. it is a win-win for everyone but Omar al-Bashir.

How does it marginalize the problem more than it already is? Because of him it made national news, if he didn't do anything it wouldn't make the news at all.
