Tis a fun game! My best is just under 10k link - I do hate it when they put you in the middle of nowhere, though. Also I don't really use the arrows much at all, maybe a click or two in one direction.

I like google maps related things... there was one a year or so ago I really enjoyed but forgot the name of. It just took you to a random place in the world (that was google mapped). There was a couple sites like that I think. Traveling is way too fucking expensive anyways :p

Love this game.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to actually draw at random from all of the available google street views. I've had a couple of repeat locations.

Fun game. I really like the aspect of having to explore to try and find clues as to your whereabouts. Best score so far is about ~10300.

I played like 3 rounds yesterday and already got 2 repeats! Lame. The world isn't big enough for this game?

I had 3 repeats in one round, and 2 that were fairly easy to get within 50-100km. We had just finished a unit in one of my classes. Answered a few questions, and was about to start on some new things, but 40% of the class was absent. So, I showed the students (smart seniors) this game & played against them - me vs. them.

The first one, I recognized. So, I looked around the view, made a bunch of nonsense reasons for it to be where it is. <click> Missed by 3 kilometers. "Not bad. How'd you guys do?"

Fun game, some are easy, others a little harder. At one point it stuck me on a pedestrian bridge with no way to move in any direction, so I couldn't try to read a sign to figure out the native language.

I don't know how much Google searching is considered acceptable... the first one was clearly in the American west, but when I saw that all the cars had rear license plates only, I looked up which states didn't require front plates, and the only desert states with no front plates were Arizona and New Mexico, so I was able to get close just by guessing in the middle of the two. On one there was a name of a landmark clearly printed on a sign, and I looked up the landmark and got it close. Don't know if that's considered "cheating" or not.

That's pretty much the textbook definition of cheating lol. :p

Fun game.

Yeah, I played some more and didn't touch Google at all. The only thing I allowed myself to do was zoom in on the map they provided and look for place names, with no search engine assistance.

Yesterday's XKCD was about this. Remember to hover over the image for the additional text.

LOL @ connoisseur of dirt roads. I was playing against my calculus students again today. *Click* Middle of nowhere. Reddish dirt. Never even moved around the map - selected somewhere in western Australia. Zoomed in until I saw a road; randomly clicked. I was off by just a couple kilometers, but on the right road.

Had some pretty good luck today. Set new personal bests for overall and single scores.

Should have had more patience with the one in Barcelona. I just saw a huge stadium, saw writing in Spanish, and clicked on Barcelona without zooming in. Probably could have gotten it within a few meters.
