im trying to figure out what is wrong i have a pny geoforce 4 ti 4200 64mb it was working fine for over a year now any games just freeze for 10 sec at a time
i bought a vantec iceberq 4 pro copper fan and some copper heatsinks and epoxy'd them on the card but still have the same problem
i have the newest drivers for my gfx card and newest drivers for my mobo
can someone plz tell me what i can do to get this card to work?

not really sure about the geforce 4*** List your pc specs.. (side note: the powersupply may be dying so check that out with another psu)

ive tried some games with this older card NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 and havent had any problem with games freezing so deffinately seems to be a problem with that card

i haven't changed anything on my system it just stopped working all of a sudden
i will get this error message sometimes saying nv4_disp.dll the device driver got stuck in and infinite loop

windows tends to blame the display driver any time it crashes in a 3D app. Which driver version are you using? Maybe you should use the one from the windowsupdate site, so that they cannot complain about that anymore 🙂

What's a Geoforce4? Is that the new subcompact that's going to replace the Metro?

Google "nVidia infinite loop" and you should be enlightened. 😛

actually i would love a geo metro...

This happens to me if i push the core clock speeds up too high, try underclocking it slightly if it's not already overclocked.

I had the same issue before and it was the power supply. It happened when I upgraded the ram which ended up putting too much of a load on the 5V line
