You lucky it wasnt one of them dumb sonofabitches that slams on the brakes and drives into a tree(or other vehicle) when they see a squirrel in the road.

That would have been something else.

This entire sequence of events... Amazing, simply amazing.

Oh man - wat was the red stuff? At first I thought the squirrel was bleeding and looked like an open wound *ack gross..

<-- can't watch the video.. guess it's time for quicktime..

He makes this crazy coughing\barking noise if you touch him though. He really doesn't seem to like it. I discovered he had fallen into my trap when I got home a few minutes ago. His little squirrely fate rests in my hands...

EDIT: So the neighbor and I go to release the squirrel into the park...
A picture of the tree filled park where he will be happy
Video of the release (Warning, contains graphic violence)
The aftermath
Poor little guy

I feel kinda bad, if he had never met me, he'd still be alive. Still, he's the dumbass that ran the wrong way. The other two ran into the park, just as planned. What are the odds that this would happen?

My god I laugh about this thread during the day when I'm nowhere near my comp or have any reason to think about AT. Just the topic... and the comments... and then blaming the dumbass squirrell for running the wrong way lol.

...see you should've just made it for dinner...same fate, less painful....feel free to catch more, too many of those gd animals running around

I'm an animal lover (not physically you pervs!) and I couldn't stop myself from cramping up with laughter. I'm ashamed. I'm amused, but ashamed. I'm ashamed that I'm amused, but I'm amused none the less. As they say: No good deed will go unpunished. My daughters and I caught a catapiller in our garden two or three years ago, and fed it till it turned into a cocoon, and hatched into a huge white moth. It was a great way to teach them about nature, and metamorphosis, etc... We released it into the backyard one afternoon. As it flew away, and everybody was cheering on it's first flight, a flight to freedome, a bird swooped down, and grabbed it right out of the air. We never saw it again (thankfully). The shocked look on my daughter's faces will live with me forever. Thankfully, I had the sense, and maybe shock, not to laugh...at the time. When I think back on it now, I can't help but giggle at the irony of the situation. Well, birds have to eat too. I suppose there is another Nature lesson there too.

Don't feel too bad. You did the right thing by relocating it rather than destroying it. Judging by the film, it had about four glory filled seconds of freedom, and it lived them the way a squirrel does. 😉

Glendor...

do you guys REALLY think this is even real? If so I can't believe that.

when the squirrel is running, it looks so fake. i think i did something that looked better than this in 5th grade. Also, look at the last 2 pics again. in 'the aftermath' picture, look at the way the squirrel is lined up with the yellow lines. then look at the 'poor little guy' pic and look at the way it is lined up with the yellow lines.

kinda funny how squirrel rotated about 90 degree clockwise from the 2 pics ...

although its obviously fake, good attempt 🙂

Squirrels can almost be kept like cats. I have 3 squirrels that eat peanuts that I put out on my back porch. You can pet them and feed them by hand, theyre quite friendly.

I noticed that as they poke their head out in the forest and I shoot them with my .22 for target practice.

You are smoking crack. If you'd read the whole thread, you'd see that squirrel was run over by a van right after the SUV hit him. It flipped him up in the air and he landed facing a different way.

I can't believe people think I faked the squirrel getting run over... I don't have the resources or even the littlest bit of know-how to do such a thing. I don't even know what program you would start to use to fabricate a video. 😕

It seriously blows my mind that someone would think this was fake.

You showed them that it's ok to be an animal lover, but don't expect nature to be one too! 🙂
