Why geniuses are less likely to suffer from hangovers

Sep 14, 2006 ? LONDON (Reuters) - High IQ scores may do more than separate geniuses from those of lesser intelligence, they could also be an indication of much someone will suffer from hangovers.

........

The researchers suspect people with high IQ scores suffer fewer hangovers because they respond better to advice not to binge drink.

Duh... smart people know when to stop drinking and how to maintain a buzz... rather than taking it too far.

So rejoice those of us who don't binge drink. You too are a genius.

If knowing when you've had enough makes you a genius then I guess I'm one too? But honestly, i'd say if you are the type of person who just goes way overboard with the drinking all the time that just means your an idiot, a person of average intellegence should be more than capable of determining how alcohol affects them and compensating accordingly.

Im definitely not a genius, but I only got 1 hang over the first time I drank. Now I just drink much slower, and keep track of what I am doing. Dont have to be a genius, just have not be an idiot.

Usually geniuses can afford better quality booze too... fewer impurities = less chance of hangover

I doubt there's much of a link between IQ and income.

Weird. I've never had a hangover in my life, and that's coming from someone who drank a bottle of Johnny Walker Red Label (I got it for cheap, so sue me 😛) and 3/4 of a bottle of cheap vodka in less than two hours when he was 15. Still 15, though.

what, joemonkey, would you say an "impurity" is exactly?

I would just suggest that after you drink to drink a glass of gatorade or something to get your water and electrolyte balance better.

Son, 2 of those little 2 oz bottles of liquor aren't going to get you drunk.

Also, when you lie on the Internet try to make it believable. 1 3/4 fifths of alcohol in 2 hours would have killed you.

Amazing the crap people will put out there.

geniuses are also smart enough to keep their body hydrated to lessen a hangover's effects.

Heh I keep telling my friends this, before bed after a night of drinking down two big glasses of water. Wake up in the morning feeling only tired, not hungover. None of them take my advice, all of them hate themselves the next day.

Guess compared to my friends, I am genius 😀

So the moral of the story is that smart people don't drink as much.

Gee. Color me surprised. I could have told you that in Jr High/High school. No big shocker that it carries over to adulthood.

Meh, never been drunk before. I have gotten tipsy, but past that, nope.

But I can drink like a horse when I want to. 😉 I just know when to stop.
