Nothing disgusting about it. Boob milk is boob milk and it's all better than formula or cow milk.

and could someone get a message to Miss Hayak, I just ran out of milk.

Seriously what's so weird about this?

This. It's human nature; we're social animals.

You guys don't see something weird about breast feeding with a child that isn't yours? It kind of gets to me. Breast milk is of course way better than powdered milk, etc. but I just can't see it. Imagine a baby sitter or nanny breast feeding someone's baby because the mother isn't around. That's almost creepy.

You're really trying to earn your Troll badge lately, aren't you?

Actually...I meant that it is disgusting for another woman to breast feed another woman's child. Theres simply something VERY disturbing about that.

It actually used to be quite common in the western world. Ever hear of a wet nurse?

No. I guess I haven't.

But milk from a cow (an entirely different specis) is a-okay?
Besides, babies don't start drinking milk until they're past a year old, it's breast milk or formula until then.

Yep, my wife....ex-wife, breast fed my son for 1 year, then it was formula and after 6 months or so some moo milk. Now hes 15 and drinks rice milk as he is not fond of moo milk. Cant say I blame him with all the shit they jam in US cows and add to the milk.

Yes, it's a little weird to those who grew up in wealthy nations, primarily because breast feeding is something we've made incredibly personal and generally fairly private.

It's not entirely a foreign concept, however, even in the states. Women who have trouble producing milk for their newborns have support groups that will ship them pumped breast milk, in bottles/bags for their children. See the Le Leche League.

I see what she did as an incredibly generous thing.

Some towns even have "Milk Banks" where nursing mothers with excess production can donate. Unfornately not all women are able to produce well or enough (twins, triplets, ect) so they will seek out milk donations for supplementing their supply.

I don't understand why you guys would think this is disgusting or anything else. You probably think its fine to drink a cow's milk.. why would that be better than drinking the milk from your own species?

Bastard. You mentioned it running and the sound instantly played back in my head, causing me to shiver a bit.

Actually...I meant that it is disgusting for another woman to breast feed another woman's child. Theres simply something VERY disturbing about that.

Why, its somehow better for the baby to drink from an animals tit than another human? Are you mentally retarded by chance?

No kidding. We don't think cow's milk (or sheep's milk, or goat's milk) is gross because we just grow up with it and are used to it. But really, imagine going out into the wild, finding a recently pregnant cow, and latching on to its udder.

Why is it okay to drink cow's milk and not... rat's milk, or dog's milk, or seal's milk?

This is just one of the reasons why I love Salma.

She'd not only give you the shirt off her back, but what's underneath as well!

No. I guess I haven't.

Me neither. I guess if my kid was starving, I might let someone else "wet feed" my kid, but I'd still be really bothered by it.

No, and others in this thread have also mentioned that they find it to be an awkward situation also.
