Generation of i5 processor

start menu -> right click 'Computer' -> properties
CPU model will show up there.

if the model number are 3 digits it is first gen.
if the model number are 4 digits beginning with a 2 is second gen.
if the model number are 4 digits beginning with a 3 is third gen.
if the model number are 4 digits beginning with a 4 is fourth gen.

Start up Device Manager (search for it or whatever if you don't know where it is).

Look under Processors.
