Would a 7990 be limited by pcie 2.0 x16? I think it would, and that would give me an excuse to upgrade my CPU. 😀
More noobness here, how can I tell if I have ITX, mATX, microATX etc? size?

Looks like I want a ghz. But I assume oc'ing it would really push my 550w PSU to the limit with my i7 870 too. :/ Might get an 850w. I have the HIVE 550w, "550w continuous @ 40c 80+ bronze."

In theory, yes. In practice you add maybe 40W unless you go crazy with the voltage. You should be fine with a quality unit like the HIVE.

A couple percent at most. But a 7990 is so far outside of your price range it isn't funny. You'd want to spend that extra $600 on many other things before even looking at a 7990.

The physical dimensions.

Looking at a HIVE 650w

If I get a part-time summer job I am looking at a full upgrade. 4930k 7990 etc. Though it'll probably be a 9990 by then.

Thanks!

I thought you guys would rather me bump this than make a new one, so I am. XD
I found this $220 7950 TFIII here, and I am thinking I will get it, but I am wondering if I should wait for the Hd9000 series. I am horrible at making these kind of decisions. That would go with a new 1080p or 1440p monitor. And I am getting the dark knightII, so I just need to think about either 7950 now or 9xxx later.

You can get it for slightly less at Newegg. $220 is a good price on a 7950 with a good cooler.

As for buy now or wait, you're always going to get more for your money by waiting. It comes down to how much you improve your gaming performance right now.
